Swadesh Darshan Yojana

The Ministry of Tourism launched its flagship scheme of ’Swadesh Darshan' in 2014-15 and provided financial assistance to the State Governments/ UTs Administration/Central Agencies for development of tourism infrastructure at various destinations, subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable Detailed Project Reports, Adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier etc. During the period 2014-15 to 2018-19, a total number of 76 projects were sanctioned under identified thematic circuits in 31 States/UTs of the country for Rs. 5292.57 Crore.

The Ministry of Tourism has now revamped its Swadesh Darshan scheme as SD2.0 with the objective to develop sustainable and responsible destinations following a tourist & destination centric approach.

PRASAD Scheme

The Government of India launched the PRASAD scheme in the year 2014-2015 under the Ministry of Tourism. The full form of the PRASAD scheme is ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive’.

This scheme focuses on developing and identifying pilgrimage sites across India for enriching the religious tourism experience. It aims to integrate pilgrimage destinations in a prioritised, planned and sustainable manner to provide a complete religious tourism experience. The growth of domestic tourism hugely depends on pilgrimage tourism.

For tapping the potential of pilgrimage tourism, there is a need for holistic development of the selected pilgrimage destinations by the government along with the cooperation of other stakeholders.

The PRASAD scheme aims at paving the way for the development and promotion of religious tourism in India.

  • An individual will be eligible for financial assistance under this scheme only once during lifetime.
  • If husband and wife are traveling together, one of the two should be 60 years or above on the date of application.
  • Application has to be submitted within 60 days of completion of Yatra along with necessary supporting documents in prescribed format.
  • Only those who have traveled to Kailas Mansarovar after going through the selection process laid down through the website of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India http://kmy.gov.in/kmy/ are eligible for this benefit.

  • Applicant should be 60 years or above on the date of application.
  • If husband and wife are traveling together, one of the two should be 60 years or above on the date of application.
  • Application of group of pilgrims will be accepted for availing benefits under this scheme. Individual application will not be considered. A group application of at least 27 persons for the Yatra will be considered as a group application.
  • An individual will be eligible for the benefit once in every financial year.

Financial Assistance

- In this scheme for visiting the pilgrimage sites of Gujarat. Super bus (Non AC) , mini bus (Non AC), Non AC sleeper coach fare or if private bus is hired, private bus fare whichever is less. 75% Bus fair will be eligible as subsidy.

- ₹50/- ( fifty Rupees ) and accommodation ₹50/- (fifty Rupees ) for 1 (one) day as advanced assistance to each pilgrims up to total of ₹100/- (Hundred Rupees ) and a maximum of ₹300 /- (Three Hundred Rupees) to be paid within the limit.
